Beyond What's Known: Meditations at the Edge of the Metropolis

ROCKAWAY ARTISTS ALLIANCE is proud to present a solo presentation of work by Michelle Zassenhaus, the winner of our 2018 Solo Show Competition. Zassenhaus’ work in Beyond What’s Known is the culmination of a “self-styled” residency the artist completed at Rockaway Beach this winter season. Whilst grappling with life-changing events, for which the show is a metaphor, Zassenhaus creates a handful of personal surveys of the landscape at the water’s edge.

Rachel can remember doing yoga as a child. Sitting on the floor, her aunt would show her to rock her leg like a baby before placing it over her head. She grew up to love yoga and teaches with an open heart. Rachel practiced for many years and studied many different practices before finding herself on the Big Island of Hawaii training under Liz Heffernen, MA, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT and Molly Moaska E-RYT, of Soma Yoga Institute. She believes in Yoga for Every Body and teaches to all levels and ages. Rachel's classes consist of breath work to connect and settle the mind, foundational alignment cues to strengthen and create a safe practice and yoga philosophy to help build a more compassionate practice both on and off the mat. All levels welcome.
